Committee to Elect Scott Ballard Superior Court Judge
WHY I'm RUNNING
For the past eleven years I have had the honor to serve you as District Attorney. I have loved every minute of it.
So, it's fair to ask why I'm giving up that office to run for Superior Court Judge.
The answer is quite simple. I hope to serve you where you need me the most.
Every four years I must decide whether to seek re-election as DA. After three terms, I really don't know how I can make the DA's Office stronger. We are staffed with amazing men and women who are passionate about protecting the public in our courts and very skilled at doing so.
Where you need help is on the superior court bench.
I'm not skilled at a lot of crafts. If your plumbing broke, I would want to help you. Unfortunately, I would only make things worse. If I tried to fix your car, it might never run again.
But I can help you in the courtroom. I have 31 years of extensive experience in the courts of the Griffin Judicial Circuit. In 20 years of private practice I helped around 200 people with divorce and other domestic cases. And I defended far more people than that who were accused of crimes.
As District Attorney, I have prosecuted rapists, child molesters, murderers, drug traffickers, armed robbers, kidnappers, burglars--I have overseen the prosecution of thousands of cases in the four counties of our circuit.
In short, I am very familiar with the disruption and pain that divorce brings upon good people. I have witnessed the heartache and hopelessness of families of drug addicts and their anger toward the criminal who provided the drugs. I have cried with the parents of molested children, I have cringed at photographs of murder victims.
You need a judge who "gets it."
Please join our effort to make our court stronger.
